Hike and Workday Info
Hikes: At current time (2024) the PMTA is not leading group led hikes. Go to the GA State Park website for FDR and click on EVENTS and see their interpretive ranger led hikes and other events. On the FDR ranger led hikes, hikers of all ages are welcome to hike. If you have small children, be ready to carry them if they become tired. Pets (dogs) are allowed, just must be on a max 6' leash. Please arrive at the location/trailhead for a hike a few minutes before the stated start time. Bring water and snacks for the hikes and something for you to carry them in. Comfortable shoes and clothes are highly recommended. There are no bathrooms on the trail, so plan accordingly and suggest you bring small roll of TP! There is one restroom at the FDR State Park Office and RV Campground (if they do the Mountain Creek Trail), so consider using those before heading out on the trail.
Workdays: You do not have to be a member of the PMTA to join us for a workdays. Most workdays are just announced on our PMT Facebook page. So we can plan workdays, with tools for us to bring and what task we can tackle, we request you email or call us saying you can help. We ask no dogs on workdays. Please bring water and snacks for yourself. We supply all the working tools and "fun"/work, we ask you bring your own protective ear & eyewear and gloves. Comfortable shoes and clothes are highly recommended, and be prepared they likely will get dirty. Workdays usually only last 3 hours or so at most.
For information on workdays, or to tell us "I can help" email Jim Hall at [email protected] (underscore after the period). Be sure to include your phone number. If you need verbal information/directions or have questions you can call him at 706-325-4113
