Pig Out 2007

It is getting close to our annual Pine Mountain Trail Association Pig Out dinner.  If you are new to the PMTA, you will not want to miss this event.  A reservation form can be found here.

Meet and eat with other PMTA members at the 2007 Pig Out on October 27.  There will be a pre-Pig Out hike at 1 p.m. from the Country Store on the Overlook Loop  Make your plans now to help us celebrate another great year and our 32th anniversary.  We need your reservations!

Hikers who come to the 1 p.m. hike are welcome at the FDR Large Group Camp dining hall area just after the hike.  The shower houses will be open  (no need to drive home to change and come back).  We will have the dining hall open and the sign-in table set up by 4 p.m. Relax and visit with other PMTA members and guests.

Our sign-in table will be outside (if not raining).  When you come to the dining hall, please go there first.  If you have paid reservations (or need to pay upon arrival) we will have pre-printed name-tags.  Please let those at the sign-in table hand out or make the name-tags.  Each person (adults and children) will receive a ticket to hold for door prizes.  Having a name-tag lets us know you have signed in.  In order to avoid a wait to check in, please arrive and check in between 4 and  5:30 .   So please help us out and arrive early.

Scoutmaster Mickey Edwards and the scouts of Boy Scout Troop 56 will again have a flag ceremony for us at 5:40 p.m.

Dinner will begin serving at 5:50 p.m on 2 lines .  Country's Barbecue again will cater the meal with pork and chicken, hot dogs, coleslaw, potato salad, beans, stew, sweet potato soufflé and great iced tea.   We will have Coke, Sprite and fruit flavored drinks (some diet) and bottled water.  Back by popular demand will be Blue Bell ice cream treats for all (including some no-sugar cups).  There will be some brief announcements and awards.  We will have door prizes.

Bring the children.  As always, you are welcome to bring non-member guests.  As for pets, be reminded that pets cannot come into the dining hall per State Park health rules.

We will have all the PMTA logo “Stuff” items for you to purchase  (shirts, medallions, patches, maps and car tags).  Please be prepared to pay for  “Stuff” items separate from dinner.

The rustic cabins near the dining hall at the large group camp are available for PMTA members to stay in over-night  (FREE) after the Pig Out. Bring your own sleeping bags, pillows and towels.  There are several metal cots with a mattress in each cabin (you may want to bring a sheet to put over the mattress).  First come, first choice on cabins.  Yes, the cabins do have electric lights.

The price of the Pig Out dinner is the same as last year ($10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 3-12).  Please go ahead and make your reservations soon . Send in the form (by US mail, not email) even if you do not mail your payment and plan to pay when you arrive.  This will help us determine how much food we will need.  We don’t want to run short.  Please indicate if you need a hot-dog with a meal (child or adult) on the form.  Late reservations and additions or changes to your mailed reservations can be called in to Joe Wade.  Please use the reservation forms.

We are making the Pig Out notice early this year for your planning purposes.  Help us by having your reservations in by Oct. 22.
